Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 2.4 percent in the first quarter of 2013, according to today’s second estimate. Corporate profits decreased $43.8 billion in the first quarter.

Sales of new single family houses in April 2013 were 454,000 at a seasonally adjusted annual rate, up 2.3 percent from March’s revised rate and up 29.0 percent from April 2012.
